The OPPORTUNITY

Position: Behaviour Consultant (BCBA)

Employment Status: Independent Contractor

Location: Toronto

Hours of work: Contractors establish their own caseloads and schedules, working as many hours as they are comfortable. Evening and/or weekend hours may be required to meet client needs.

Experience required: Minimum three years

The Opportunity:

ISAND is seeking a Behaviour Consultant (BCBA) to work as part of our interdisciplinary team providing naturalistic behavioural services and supports to children and youth living with ASD and other neurodevelopmental disorders and their families. The Behaviour Consultant will work within a collaborative model ensuring access to or consultation with other disciplines as appropriate to provide an optimal treatment approach.  

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three (3) years working with pre-school and/or school-aged children having ASD and (possibly) other neurodevelopmental disorders in clinic, home, community and school settings;
  • Masters’ Degree in: psychology; applied disability studies; ABA or another related field;
  • BCBA certification;
  • Training and/or experience in Applied Behaviour Analysis including NDBI methods;
  • Demonstrated ability to provide in-person and virtual therapy;
  • Experience working with positive behaviour support approaches to behavioural intervention;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and/or proven experience that support collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Demonstrated experience providing coaching, feedback and support to families;
  • Current (within past six months), positive Vulnerable Sector Screening and Police Check
  • Ability to speak knowledgeably on the benefits of naturalistic and PBS approaches to behaviour therapy and when they are considered a preferred approach;
  • A demonstrated  ability to disseminate knowledge to a wide variety of audiences;
  • Registration with Ontario Autism Program (OAP) as a clinical supervisor for behavioural interventions considered an asset;

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized intervention programs based on the principles of Applied Behavioural Analysis;
  • Collaborate with clinical team members from across disciplines to ensure high-quality, integrated therapies;
  • Participate in clinical team meetings and client case conferences to assist with the development of creative, therapeutic approaches to unique client issues;
  • Support positive working relationships among clinical and administrative teams, client families and community professionals;
  • Contribute to the positive on-going growth and development of ISAND

The OPPORTUNITY

POSITION: Behaviour Therapist

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Independent Contractor, Full and Part Time Hours available

LOCATION: Toronto (Yonge/Finch) Primarily in-person therapy, with virtual option when clinically appropriate

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Minimum 2 Years

We are seeking an enthusiastic Behaviour Therapist to work as part of our Early Intervention Team to provide services and supports for families of children living with autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders. The Behaviour Therapist will work within a naturalistic, integrated and collaborative model. This position will report to ISAND’s Early Intervention Clinical Supervisors and be responsive to the Clinical Director.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Postsecondary education in a related field.
  • Knowledge of applied behaviour analysis, autism spectrum disorder and child development.
  • Experience and desire to participate in natural, child-led approaches to behavioural intervention.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that will support collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of professionals.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Committed and responsible approach towards work.
  • Experience with naturalistic developmental behavioural intervention (NDBI) is strongly preferred.
  • Current Vulnerable Sector and Police Check and ability to travel to home and community-based settings.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the development of individualized intervention programs based on the principles of Naturalistic Developmental Behavioural Intervention (NDBI).
  • Provide NDBI to children both individually and in small groups, in home and community-based settings.
  • Collaborate with clinical team members to ensure high-quality, well-integrated client care and problem resolution for the unique needs of each family.
  • Participate in regular clinical team meetings and assist in the development of creative solutions to family challenges.
  • Participate in the rigorous collection and analysis of data.
  • Document and report to clinical supervisor and parents on children’s developmental progress.
  • Support positive working relationships among clinical and administrative teams, client families, and community professionals.
  • Ensure the child’s environment is healthy and safe.
  • Contribute positively to the ongoing growth and development of ISAND.

The OPPORTUNITY

POSITION: Occupational Therapist

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Independent Contractor, Full and Part Time Hours available

LOCATION: Toronto (Yonge/Finch) Primarily in-person therapy, with virtual option when clinically appropriate

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Minimum 5 Years, working with children and young adults with ASD and other neurodevelopmental conditions

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our interdisciplinary team of professionals to provide services and supports to children living with autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders. As an Independent Contractor, working as many hours as you like, you set your own hours to meet the needs of clients on the waiting list and your schedule. The successful candidate will be supported by current OT and an interdisciplinary team of clinicians.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assess client needs to determine strengths and objectives
  • Design individual intervention plans in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team and families
  • Plan, organize and conduct occupational therapy sessions using a play-based approach when appropriate, adapting approaches to meet the behavioural, sensory and social needs of the client
  • Provide direct treatment and consultation both individually and in small groups
  • Complete and maintain records in accordance with COTO standards 
  • Contribute to the integrated team model by collaborating with clinicians from across disciplines
  • Keep current with trends in the field by participating in professional development opportunities
  • Follow all ISAND Health and Safety policies including COVID 19 protocols

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement: treatment, in centre, at the child’s home and/or the community; and family coaching/training
  • Experience in working as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Strong interpersonal skills that support collaboration
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Commitment to evidence-informed practice
  • Ability to provide education and consultation to pre-school and school teachers
  • Other experiences that would be considered an asset include:

The OPPORTUNITY

POSITION: Speech-Language Pathologist

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Independent Contractor

LOCATION: Toronto (Yonge/Finch)

HOURS of WORK: Flexible self-scheduling with the ability to build caseload size.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Minimum 3 Years

THE OPPORTUNITY
As an Independent Contractor, you will maintain professional autonomy while being part of a multidisciplinary team of registered and allied health professionals dedicated to delivering the highest standard of care. The successful candidate will provide speech and language assessment and therapy in the clinic, the client’s home, daycare, school or other community location offering virtual and in-person options. The SLP will work with children with ASD and/or other Neurodevelopmental Disorders and their families individually and in groups.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide consultation, assessment, planning and intervention activities
  • Develop and provide SLP interventions to clients: individually and in small groups; in-centre and community-based settings; in-person and via virtual care platform (i.e. Zoom)
  • Collaborate with clinicians within and across disciplines to ensure high-quality, integrated client care
  • Participate in regular clinical team meetings and assist in the development of creative solutions to family challenges
  • Provide parent coaching, feedback and support
  • Support positive working relationships among clinical and administrative teams, client families, and community professionals

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with adolescents, and school aged children with autism spectrum disorder and other neurodevelopmental disorders;
  • Education: Master’s Degree in SLP;
  • CASLPO registration, in good standing;
  • Specific training and/or experience in the area of social skills intervention, Social Thinking ® methodology preferred;
  • Knowledge of or experience with: AAC; Hanen; higher-level literacy training considered an asset;
  • Experience in the areas of: motor speech; language; and functional communication;
  • Demonstrated ability to provide both in-person and virtual interventions for individuals and small groups;
  • Experience working in an interdisciplinary team setting;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Demonstrated experience providing coaching, feedback and support to families;
  • Strong self-motivation, enthusiasm and creativity with a willingness to explore novel program development, and collaborative problem solving;
  • Current Vulnerable Sector and Police Check and ability to travel to home and community-based settings;
  • Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends in-person or virtual, as requested by clients;
  • Proof of Professional Liability Insurance;
  • Experience working with adults with ASD is considered an asset;
  • Experience providing supervision to CDA, or student placements is considered an asset
